The minimum order for live quail is 5 birds.
Yes, we offer delivery services within a 25-mile radius of our homestead for a small fee ($10). On-site pickup is free. Hatching eggs can be shipped via USPS within the state of Texas.
In order to ship across state line we need to be National Poultry Improvement Program (NPIP) certified. We are currently pursuing certification at this time, but do not yet have it.
Unfortunately, no, Jumbo Coturnix quail can stress easily in the shipping process unlike the standard size. For the safety of our birds we humanely choose not to put them through that. (Or you! Opening a box of dead birds could be distressing.) If we are too far away for you to come pick up from or receive delivery, consider ordering hatching eggs instead. We guarantee a 50% hatch rate for shipped eggs.
Every order is different and depends on our covey size at the time. We can usually get you straight run (unsexed) chicks in about 3-4 weeks. Sexed birds will take 6-7 weeks as we have to hatch them and wait for feathers to come in. We target feather-sexable varieties in order to keep these times shorter. We have plans to begin sex-link breeding in the near future which will help decrease those times even more.
If you purchase hatching eggs from us and less than 50% of the eggs hatch, we will refund 50% of the egg cost. Shipping costs are not included in the refund. When we ship hatching eggs, we include 10% more eggs than ordered in case of broken/damaged eggs - this 10% is not included in the calculation of hatch rate. You must let us know within 7 days of hatching that you didn't reach 50% hatch rate. We will issue the refund to the card or account used for purchase.
To calculate hatch rate, divide the number of hatched chicks by the number of ordered eggs.
EXAMPLE:
You ordered 50 hatching eggs. 28 chicks hatched.
28/50 = 0.56 which is a 56% hatch rate
